Estimate your body fat percentage using the U.S. Navy method. No sign-up, no gimmicks — just a tape measure and 30 seconds.
The U.S. Navy Formula
Male
BF% = 86.010 × log10(waist − neck) − 70.041 × log10(height) + 36.76Female
BF% = 163.205 × log10(waist + hip − neck) − 97.684 × log10(height) − 78.387All measurements in centimetres. Imperial values are converted to cm before calculation.
Where to Measure
Neck
Measure just below the larynx (Adam’s apple), with the tape sloping slightly downward to the front. Keep the tape snug but not compressing the skin.
Waist
For men, measure at the navel. For women, measure at the narrowest point of the natural waist, typically just above the belly button.
Hip
Women only. Measure at the widest point of the buttocks, keeping the tape level all the way around.
Height
Stand barefoot against a wall. Measure from the floor to the top of your head.

About Accuracy
The Navy method is a widely used estimation with a typical margin of error of 1 – 3%. It's most accurate when measurements are taken consistently (same time of day, same posture). For a precise reading, methods like DEXA scanning or hydrostatic weighing are recommended. This calculator is a screening tool, not a medical diagnosis. Consult a qualified professional for personalised health advice.
